Auckland Telephone Services ( Hearing Phones ) was established in the late 1980s shortly after the
telecommunications industry was deregulated which allowed private importing and ownership of modern plug in and cordless telephones The owner and manager of this business was working as a service technician for plesseys business systems in Mt Eden Auckland. Plesseys is a major telecommunications suppler.

Not happy at working for somebody else Hearing phone owner Glen Mc Millan saw the deregulation of the telecommunications industry as an opportunity to escape the rat race of taking orders and working hard for others Glen has the drive and knowledge to set up for himself with a great team of friends willing to learn.

With the early assistance of  a helpful organization called Ready Willing and Able,

Auckland Telephone Services was started in February 1987 The owner Glen, is disabled from a childhood accident, shortly after his tenth birthday he fell from his push bike in the street he lived in Glen was left with permanent voice and mobility problems, roadwork's were the cause of the accident

Very badly hurt it would be years before Glen would be getting out of hospital, after such a tragic early life Glen was a much stronger more determined person, so when the chance to work for himself and help others come up Glen gathered up a group of disabled friends most of whom had been injured as youngsters and with his team, business was started, a quick rise to fame happened business was so successful glen and his team were featured in many newspapers and magazines including a feature spot on the New Zealand TV program Success

The continuing success enjoyed by Glen and his team continue to this day Glen now makes and operates a group of telecommunication website's devoted to continuing his great and very helpful service enjoyed by tens of thousands of happy customers
